La maison
Aster House
Maison Aster brings together handcrafted luminaires — glazed ceramic, travertine, solid brass. Pieces where the material remains visible, and where irregularities are part of the object.
The Craft
Each lampshade is thrown and then glazed individually. The glaze never settles in the same way twice: a deeper shade here, a tiny variation in thickness there. These differences are what distinguish a handmade piece from a mass-produced, molded piece.
The Light
We choose shapes that direct light downwards rather than diffusing it everywhere. An opal glass, a flared lampshade, a low source: enough to illuminate a table or a corner of a room without glare, and maintain an atmosphere at the end of the day.
The Materials
Ceramic for softness and color. Travertine for its porous grain, which allows light to filter through the edges. Unvarnished brass for the socket and suspension — it patinates with time and eventually takes on the color of your interior.
